The door is firmly shut at The Shambles. The Shambles pub in Dobcross has closed down. The doors have been shut since the weekend, and local people have reported seeing removal men taking items of value out of the building. Oldham Council’s plans to get tough on inconsiderate dog owners could have an impact in Saddleworth. The council has begun a public consultation on proposals which include banning dogs from children’s play areas and forcing dog owners to keep their pets on leads in certain parks. Under the plans, dogs would be banned from the playground at Diggle Tip [...] Roads in Uppermill, Diggle and Delph are going to be closed for varying lengths of time as work to improve retaining walls in our area continues. The aftermath of the incident. A woman has been hit and seriously injured by a lorry in Diggle. The incident happened this lunchtime near the entrance to the Warth Mill complex. Several fire engines and ambulances joined police in heading to the scene after the alarm was raised at 12:48pm.
