The Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council has given us an update on the charity work he’s been involved with since taking office in May. Cllr Keith Begley, who is serving as Chairman for the first time, is supporting a variety of good causes. The nominated Chairman’s charities for 2010/11 are Sense, which is the main charity [...] The Saddleworth Women’s Institute is selling tickets for its latest big charity fundraiser. The Indian Summer Party will take place on 24 September at the Saddleworth Hotel on Huddersfield Road. As always with the WI, local charities will benefit, with proceeds being split between the Dr Kershaw’s and Willow Wood hospices, and the Saddleworth Village Olympics. There’ll [...] A charity concert in aid of Help for Heroes takes place at the Junction pub in Denshaw this Saturday afternoon. There’ll be live acts on stage in the car park between 2pm and 8pm, along with a barbecue, auction and raffle. The band itself performed, along with guest soloist Mark Walters on the flugelhorn, local mezzo soprano Rachel Colley, and Dobcross-based whistling legend David Morris.
