Car stuck on tram lines again at Oldham Mumps tonight

A car has ended up stuck on tram lines near Oldham Mumps again tonight halting services in both directions.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm when the driver mistook the line towards Rochdale as part of the road. It is thought to be the fourth time a car has driven onto the tram lines at the same spot in recent months.

Police attended at the scene and managed to tow the car off the line an hour later using a police BMW. Nobody is believed to have been injured.

are some drivers going round with their eyes shut mad or what

Whether people are stupid or not it is obvious that a problem exists at this here and it shouldn’t take rocket science to correct and clarify this junction by the authorities before they have many more ‘stupid’ incidents.

  • The space for the rail lines and the space for the road to Derker have been there in one form or another for as long as most residents of Oldham have been around- they just look different. The few people getting this wrong aren’t painting a great impression of the people of Oldham and how we handle the development of technology…

We also nearly made the same mistake at Mumps when we visited Oldham a few weeks ago.
It has altered so much in the last few years, no bridges, it looks queer, and I think that
Oldham has lost its character and its identity,it’s not English anymore, Sorry

  • It has one bridge removed and people say it “isn’t British”. What?! The tracks run in the same way they did before, just in the road and not over your head. Yes, the road layourt has changed, but there are markings showing you where to go. And how is Mumps “not English” any more? Do we not have trams anywhere else in the country?
